About Arlene
I'm a 28 year old engineer living in the East Bay and working in silicon valley. In my spare time, I like to play with my computer, read trashy romance novels, decorate our house, and watch as much tv as possible(as long as it's not sports). I also love to shop for clothes and gadgets, and spend the money I work so hard for!
My favorite things include my shiny new Mini Cooper S Convertible, my new PC and dual monitors, my file/ftp/print/webserver (RAID baby!), my tivo, our new tv, all my new skinny clothes, my purse collection, my trashy romance novels, and our home theater with our nice new htpc (still need to finish painting those walls! )
My least favorite things include our stupid yard that's taking forever to get done and looks like ass right now, my fat clothes, my monthly Discover card bill (damn those shopping sprees!), and my never-ending pile of laundry.
My short-term goals include transforming our house into a Pottery Barn catalog lookalike, while still mostly shopping at Ikea, Costco and Walmart. I would also like to try and watch every single show on my Tivo before they get deleted. I want to sort through all the photos I uploaded to smugmug and arrange them nicely with comments...hopefully I can scan in some of my older photos too! Finally, I gotta learn to take care good care of my new baby, Giles (my car not a kid), and keep him nice, clean, and happy.
My long-term goals include maintaining my current weight, which took five months of weightwatchers and a lot of hard work to achieve, rein in my shopaholic spending habits, and get my MBA someday. My ambition in life is to make as much money while doing as little work as possible! ;)

and Uly:
My husband Uly and I got married last August 2003 after being together for around 7 (yes, 7!) years. We met in Jefferson High School, where he was a year ahead of me. He probably wouldn't have noticed me in high school (I was a big geek, he was the "cool" one...;) ) until I blatantly flirted with him at the CSF camping trip. Never underestimate the power of a woman who knows what she wants and grabs it! Well, 1 more year of high school (for me at least), 4 years of college, and a couple years of working, and here we are today, still together, and even married. =)
I gotta say we have it pretty good right now...we had a very nice wedding, bought our first house...I feel pretty good about where we are right now. I'm very proud to be a homeowner, it's nice to be able to have our own place after we each spent a couple years (more for Uly!) living with our parents after college. It was so worth it! After spending a year planning my wedding (and driving Uly crazy in the process), it's nice to have a new project in decorating our home. It's a work in progress, but it's certainly looking nicer and nicer each time. No room for kids yet though...all our 3 bedrooms are all occupied with the master bedroom, the office, and the home theatre. Where the heck am I gonna put a kid? I guess that's one major step that's still way (I mean wayyyy) down the road for me.
